Unless prescribed by a doctor, Ibuprofen is not recommended for pregnant women. Especially for those more than 30 weeks into their pregnancy. Why? Ibuprofen can affect your baby’s circulation and kidneys. There may also be a link between taking ibuprofen in early pregnancy and miscarriage.
A short course of Ibuprofen might be fine, but it depends on your individual circumstances. Your doctor or pharmacist is best placed to walk you through the intricacies of this decision- so you should make sure to speak with them before taking the drug. There may be other treatments that are more suitable for you. Paracetamol, for instance, is widely considered the best painkiller to take during pregnancy.
