Who are the instructors?
Great education all start with one thing: great teaching. Our classes are delivered by the most well-loved and passionate Midwives and Lactation Consultants. Our team of Midwives and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC)are leading experts in their field and ensure you leave our online class armed with the knowledge you need to make your own decisions for you and your baby. All our Midwives and Lactation Consultants are fully qualified and practicing, ensuring you get the most up-to-date and evidence-based information for you and your baby 👩⚕️
Should my partner watch the class with me?
Absolutely. We recommend that both mother and partner watch our classes together. This is a great way for the partner to feel more connected to the pregnancy, especially as they’re not the ones physically carrying your little baby. As well as preparing you for the journey from bump to baby, our online antenatal classes can help your partner know what to expect. They give your partner a better idea of what is going to happen to you during delivery and of complications that could arise. This can help them to stay calmer as you give birth, so they are better able to truly be there for you when you need it most 💁🏽♂️
What is an Antenatal Class?
Antenatal classes are designed to help you and your partner to prepare for labour, birth and early parenthood. The majority of antenatal classes will focus mostly on labour and birth, with others guiding you through late pregnancy, and on what life with a newborn baby may be like. At The Baby Academy, we ensure to cover both. In addition, we believe that Baby First Aid is one of the most important things you can learn as an expectant parent, so unlike many other antenatal classes, we’ve included it as part of our full-day Antenatal Class at no extra cost. We understand that going to a class to learn about parenthood can seem very outdated. There’s plenty of information available on the internet, and you’re surrounded by family and friends who are offering you advice (sometimes whether you’re asking for it or not!). However, all those different sources don’t necessarily agree, and they tend to be shaded by people’s personal opinions. Our course is designed to provide you with most of the up-to-date information you need, as well as the different options you have for each aspect of your pregnancy and birth. We ensure parents feel relaxed and are prepared for the life-changing journey ahead 👶
When should I attend your Antenatal Class?
Our Experts recommend you attend our antenatal class ideally in your second or third trimester. Booking early is advised as there is limited availability.
What is a Breastfeeding Class?
Breastfeeding classes are designed to help you best prepare for your breastfeeding journey, from pregnancy through early parenthood. The majority of breastfeeding classes will focus mostly on mastering breastfeeding, with others guiding you through issues that may arise, and on what breastfeeding life is like with your newborn baby. At The Baby Academy, we ensure to encompass all aspects of your breastfeeding journey with your baby. With a goal of equipping Mums with the evidence-based knowledge and tools to successfully and confidently breastfeed your baby, knowing exactly what to do if you are faced with a breastfeeding challenge. Our class aims to make you feel supported throughout this amazing journey with your little one, giving you a deep understanding of the amazing support that is available for you as well as setting you up for the next steps such as transitioning back to your daily/work and weaning your baby off the breast. We understand that going to a class to learn about early parenthood can seem very outdated. There’s plenty of information available on the internet, and you’re surrounded by family and friends who are offering you advice (sometimes whether you’re asking for it or not!). However, all those different sources don’t necessarily agree, and they tend to be shaded by people’s personal opinions. Our course is designed to provide you with most of the up-to-date information you need, as well as the different options you have for each aspect of your pregnancy and early parenthood.
